Soulful mini cars

In big crowded cities of the XXI century small cars became one of the most convenient means of transport. Car dealers in Ireland claim the compact cars constitute more than 20% of used cars sales and above 30% in big cities. Because they are not only easy to park but also economic, it is likely, the compact cars will gain more and more popularity on Irish car dealers listings during the years of crisis as they have emerged from one.

The compact cars era started in late 50’s together with BMW Isetta – the bubble car (which is probably more impressive today if met on Dublin streets). This was due to an outstanding price rise of oil which began in the mid 50’s when Egyptian Republic started blocking freighters and ignoring the Suez Canal leases. This is also the reason why in 1957 designer, Alec Issigonis, began his work on the design of an economy sport sedan that would be the Morris Mini Minor and the Austin Seven, today better known as the Mini or The Car of the Century.

Since the Mini Cooper S earned acclaim with Monte Carlo Rally victories in 1964, 1965 and 1967 it became the most appreciated small car in history. That’s why, nowadayscar dealers in Ireland, apart from offering new model produced by BMW since the year 2000, still consider the 90’s and older Minis worth their while. “Some Mini lovers, even if they respect the excellence of new design, reject new Minis claiming that owning a Mini is owning a piece of history,” says one of car dealers in Dublin.

Now, car dealers offer not only new Mini but also other compact cars from the past which have recently seen their descendants. Volkswagen decided to redesign “The People’s Car” and introduced the New Beetle in 1998. The new Fiat 500 is one of the best historically based models released in this century. And car dealers will probably offer new baby-car because BMW is said to be re-inflating the bubble with the appearance of new concept Isetta. Still, car dealers in Ireland offer compact cars form the fifties as well as the new ones. Remember, you are still able to buy an old, stylish Isetta, Mini or Fiat 500 from 1952. Wouldn’t it be nice to “own a piece of history”? Consider possessing one of those rare pearls searching throughcar dealers listings.
